Buzz for Cinderella

Lea Salonga is coming  to Thailand to perform in Muang Thai Rachadalai Theater on December 16-21 entitled Cinderella.  Tickets are from 1,000 - 4,000 Baht.  Every ticket owner also has a chance to win a Tiara worth 1 million Baht.

I’m a big fan of Lea and it saddens me that I couldn’t witness this magical event.  As I am bound for home on the 14th of December.  I just wished it was sooner.

FYI, Lea is a multi-awarded Filipina artist.  A one of a kind music artist that has brought her recognition from all over the world.

Synopsis

One of the world’s most beloved and famous fairy tales becomes a hit Broadway musical! Watch Cinderella transform from rags to riches with the help of her fairy godmother in a classical stage spectacular.  You, too, will come to believe that the impossible is, indeed, possible!

Treated like a slave by her Stepmother and stepsisters Portia and Joy, Cinderella seeks refuge in her own little corner of the house, where she daydreams of a better life. Meanwhile, the King and Queen prepare for a formal ball they are giving in order to find a wife for their son, the Prince. The Prince wonders when he will find his true love, and the King assures him that lasting love will come to him.

On the night of the ball, Cinderella fantasizes about attending. Her Godmother teases her for harboring impossible dreams, but Cinderella is miraculously provided with a beautiful gown and a fancy carriage, proving to her Godmother that dreams can indeed come true.  Cinderella leaves for the ball in her new dress and carriage, but she is warned that the magic will only last until midnight.

At the ball, the Prince invites a mysterious beauty to dance, unknown to him and everyone at the ball that it is actually Cinderella.  Portia and Joy glare and jealously criticize the Prince’s choice of women. Cinderella and the Prince marvel that they have fallen in love after knowing each other for only ten minutes. As midnight is about to strike, Cinderella flees, leaving a puzzled Prince and one of her glass slippers behind.

The next day, Cinderella dreamily recalls her adventure at the ball. Portia and Joy, believing that their stepsister can only be imagining the ball, marvel at her accuracy. A Herald announces the arrival of the Prince, who, armed with the glass slipper, has begun to search far and wide for his mysterious love. Cinderella’s suspicious Stepmother orders Cinderella out of the house so that she won’t ruin Portia and Joy’s chances with the Prince. To the delight of Cinderella and her Godmother, magic once again provides assistance, and the Prince recognizes Cinderella. He places the glass slipper on her foot and, lo and behold, it fits. Cinderella and the Prince are joyously united.

Buzz for Napster to be Acquired by Best Buy

The latest entertainment buzz for the online music community Napster which started as a dorm project holds of great interest to Best Buy Incorporated right now.  Best Buy is willing to acquire Napster at $127million.  For the very main reason of boosting its digital music business.

In a similar move, Best Buy have also purchased the computer repair shop Geek Squad six years ago and established it in every store they have.   If they will be successful enough with Napster, it may not only be about music but Best Buy aims to accelerate the growth of their digital entertainment and making it even more accessible to the public.

More Energy Needed at Work

Our workshop on Selected Agricultural Food Biotechnology will be in a weeks time from now.  Most of my colleagues and me are working overtime just to make ends meet. With all the deadlines, I encounter sleepless nights thinking of the things that has to be done without delay.

Every morning is a burden when my body is not cooperating well. I’m too lazy to get up lest I’ll take a leave which is unlikely possible. I’d better grab Chi3 on the nearest shop to lighten up my day. This would provide me more energy that I need at work.

Business Schools Builds Green Classrooms

Environmental friendly study atmosphere or green business pleases the majority of students in business schools nowadays. Lately, study areas have somehow improved dramatically by their conscious drive on going green.

Business schools are building green classrooms by way of installing energy saving devices and energy efficient building designs. Photovoltaic panels where put up on the roof and drought-tolerant plants have also been cultivated.   In addition to this, compost piles and dual-flush toilets where among the new developments. For the reason of creating a new level of consciousness to would be business leaders of the future. This initiative would surely go a long way as it inspire other academic institutions to apply what they have learned for.

Computer Data Recovery and Restoration

It may not be avoided that in some instances our mind is out of focus which leads one committing mistakes. It is possibly due to work pressure or failure to read the instructions clearly that pops out in the computer monitor. These kind of situations dangerously could result to some horrible data loss.

In my case, I have once dropped my USB external hard disk which contains valuable information. I was really shocked on what happened. I know for sure that hard disk have some delicate parts that will not work when dropped. This will really put my work in grave danger. I checked it immediately it’s good that it still can detect my external hard drive, but it hangs up. It seems useless, but I have to get my data back.

5-6 Business in the Philippines

In the Philippines you would normally see Indians or Bumbays roaming around the streets to collect money from the borrowers everyday. 5-6 is a common Filipino term for 20% interest loan from unregistered lending business. 5-6 business is not considered legal but due to poverty and for emergency situation many Filipinos fell prey to this easy-money-scheme that requires no collateral at all. Unlike in the bank you need to present your assets just to borrow a small amount of money. Often 5-6 borrowers end up acquiring payment backlogs for soaring interest rates rather than the principal amount.

It goes like this, one borrows 1,000 and the interest is 200. Everyday lenders are more happy collecting interest payments disregarding the principal amount as it gives a big advantage to them. Delayed principal payments means exponential interest rates.

So far, there has been no law protecting indebted individuals from ending this type of vicious cycle. And for the lenders, the question is, have they forgotten to bring their conscience along?

Google’s Blogger Gets Update For Social Features

One of the oldest forms of free blogging platform is Google’s Blogger. Recently, Blogger have done some revamps and unleashed some new features to make blogs more of a social platform. These features have been kind of first for its kind. Blogger’s could view the people that read their blogs, and a gadget will allow display of those people on the actual blogs. It is accomplished through some “Follow this Blog” link which appears on all Blogger blogs. These feature will show on both the Blogger’s dashboard and in Google Reader, a who is following who information.

Google is attempting to push RSS to become mainstream as there are still people online who’s confused of Really Simple Syndication or RSS. “Follow this blog” will appear on the header of every blog on Blogger.com. Upon click, users will then be taken to either a tab on their Blogger dashboard (if they have an account and are logged in) or a Google Reader will open it up. The strategy seems simple.

I myself haven’t been using much of the RSS feature of the Internet. There are still millions that are probably still confused about RSS, thus, there’s a few who use it, even if many of those have Gmail accounts. This plan of Google could actually draw people into RSS without even realizing it. Social freaks could be lured with the “Follow this blog” link as it has a kind of Twitter sound to it. Plus, Google’s Friend Connect will be integrated with Blogger, further increasing the social aspects of blogs. Go try and explore your Blogger. Currently available for English language blogs.

Google Chrome Web Browser

I’ve heard that the latest tech buzz word nowadays is Web 2.0 Technology.  Search engine developers are looking for another alternative of browser that will handle web applications.  Now the Big G -Google have realeased its CHROME web browser.  This has been built using WebKit open source browser project similarly running Safari web browser and other OS X applications.
