Summer Hats

hats Having sunny days are basically one of the joys in staying on tropical countries like Thailand.  Thai entrepreneurs flaunts their beautifully handmade hats on the streets of Jatujak market.  Tourists flocks to find their own size from the ones on sale.

These hats are sold at 50 baht each, in different designs, unique patterns and assorted shades to choose from.  It is light to wear for shopping or beach party.

Flower Business

I remember my brother telling me about his future plan in line with his sudden decision to shift in Agricultural Business course.  He is not attracted to the promise for a greener pasture as he believes that he can be abundant in our own country.  That is why he gave up Engineering to study Agribusiness.

I admire his good choice and I fully support him for being so mindful of the local environment.  Culturing the natural resources seems to be a great task. Hence Agriculture operated by business is also rewarding in maintaining balance of the ecosystem.

Agribusiness is devoted to the production, processing, and distribution of food and fibre products and byproducts.  The flower business uses the byproduct of the agricultural products like organic fertilizers. One good example for an Eco-friendly business that you may want to start right now.

Ceramic or Plastic

ceramic or plastic

To market I go last weekend and business are flourishing in Jatujak Market, Bangkok. See the picture on the left, a stall sells ceramic ornaments and on the right are different types of plastic fruits on display. Both does wholesale and retail with their products. The ceramics is one of Thailand’s handicraft that is being exported in other countries. What makes it attractive to collectors is its unique design. It’s a good choice for gifts this Christmas. On the other hand, I find the plastic fruits best for table decorations. It gives life to an empty dining table.

ComWorld Sale in Siam Paragon

comworld sale

My office mate shared some great news to me last Thursday.  She tore out a page from the newspaper in Thai texts saying buy 1 Acer Aspire/Desktop get 1 free Acer Aspire One laptop! I should get one, I told myself.  So I spread the word to my friends and my hubby.  We then examined the ad thoroughly to get more idea of the available promotion.  Only to find out that a hundred units will only be given away. Knowing Thais as super shopaholics with all types of credit cards available for them to use and true enough the Acer shop confirmed that the promotion is “mot laew” sold out during the first hour of the 4 days sale.

ComWorld Sale was held on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon Shopping Mall.  This place is accessible using BTS Skytrain at Siam Station. It was my first time to arrive on the top floor of the building and I find it relaxing to stay on the 4th floor instead of the mezzanine hall. Looking at the crowd turned me instantly on a shopping mood even though I intended to window shop only.

Aside from the computers and computer accessories there were also cameras of all types on sale. At the end of the day me and T find ourselves carrying a small box containing a mini note, a plastic with a tiny laptop jacket, a 120 G external HD, and a micro-SD card.  This gives me enough reason to better stay at home on Christmas.

Joomla’s Aluma Photography Theme

aluma photography themeI got a little annoyed by my photoblog template that was set up on aileenguirnela.com site as some of the buttons have disappeared.  I teased T to change my template again.  This time it will be Joomla, I told him.  He raised his eyebrows when he heard about it.  Thinking, his wife must be dreaming again, (which is true enough) that she can’t even understand simple html codes in Wordpress how much more the language used in Joomla! So I digress.

I opened my laptop and typed in ‘Joomla Photography Theme’ and the result pointed me into this awesome discovery I have. This October, Shape 5 have released Joomla’s hottest theme of the month called Aluma Photography.   It uses a 100% transparent template that is easy to manipulate.  Not satisfied yet, Shape 5 have also released to new modules; The S5 Photo Expression module and the S5 Virtuemart Quick Category module! How’s that?

Selling pictures online could be more fun and easy with Aluma. This is my dream theme.  However my critic is so strong that I don’t know how to convince him that he should learn Joomla for me and transfer everything to Aluma soon. hehehe.

Creating a Brand Identity that Stands Out

In the market place there are many products available for every consumer type. Noticeably other brands are identical in appearance with other items but of different value. Let’s say milk products. I’ll take it as an example considering the noise it had brought to the consumer society today originating from the melamine substance added to few of the trusted brands. People tend to become more cautious nowadays on what to buy and its long term benefits or effects for tainted ones. Building a brand identity is vital as how you want your customers to perceive about it. Whether the company desires their product to come out superior than other brands, lasting or custom made to their personal needs.

One high-end aspect of a brand identity for easier recognition is known as Corporate Branding.   It is a way of using company’s name as a product brand name.  Adidas is one of it among many others.  Adidas is often seen with three stripes label that makes it easier for people to spot it among other sports items in the market–may it be shoes, bags, caps, tops,  shorts, skirts and pants.  A great advantage to this type of strategic branding is that products are not treated invidually.  The creation of websites have also contributed alot in the in corporate branding, it had reached captive audiences almost equal to paid advertisements.

Current Buzz for Thailand

There is a rising concern in the urban district of Bangkok for the past few months now.  Thai activists, almost all wearing a yellow shirt in reverence to the King have paraded outside the territories of the parliament building near the vicinity of UN offices.

If you plan to come to Thailand, it’s really not a big scare to push through with your travels even if you plan to roam around the city.  It is not terrifying as you may think of because the rallyists does not control the whole country.  The airport is too far from chaos.  So when you arrive you will feel that there’s nothing intense happening at all.  Normal flow of income in the shopping districts are uninterrupted.  It is business as usual they say.

To note from yahoo news update, the overall situation is said that “the upheaval comes at a tough time: the Thai stock market has sunk nearly 40 percent since May; a Muslim insurgency rages in the south; the rich tourist market has shrunk; and Thailand’s great unifying figure, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, is 80, raising great concern about how the nation will cope with the eventual succession to the throne.”  Only a word from his Royal Highness will restore everything to order at once.  When that time comes it will be another glorious day to celebrate for the greater good of the country I call my second home.
